mt kinabalu conquered on 23rd apr 07
Remember last week i went and spend my weekend at Pulau Manukan, and the fact that i have only 2 weekends to venture Sabah, i had to climb Mt Kinabalu on the 2nd week, and iliyas and ida didnt wanna go up..so i went by myself.. ive experienced doing a lot of things alone, and climbing Mt Kinabalu alone will push the limit to the next level...of course there will be alot of people climbing with you, but they are friends you meet along the 'lonely' test...ive heard this line which goes "the suckiest thing is when you have to do things alone, even when theres other people around", not to complain or anything but yah, it did struck my head,..trying to tackle Kinabalu alone is not an easy thing, coz everybody needs everybody else to live, we depend on each other, to help you when u fall, to guide u, to share water when yours is out, to talk when your bored, and so on..but i can say, it makes you stronger once you've pushed yourself to the limit.
I never planned to actually climb kinabalu, but i promised myself back in 2000 when i was in Sabah for the first time, when i come back, i have to climb Kinabalu, and if during this trip, i didnt go, ill be mad at myself and prolly be dissapointed with the whole trip to Sabah. Its been a year since Uncle Azhar passed away, and this year, look at me, where i am now,..
yah..i had my sight on the target, and theres no turning back, if u see a white pole on the mountain, laban rata(the plc where i have to stay the nite) is further up..but cant see kot from the pic..
i joined their group (james and lynette) from singapore...so i wasnt alone after all..
they're a great bunch and it was a good experience goin up with them..
(p.s. all above are law based) totally coincidence
lynette the superwoman, she has jumped off an aeroplane, has a private plane licence and b4 kinabalu, she was from Swak , went diving with hammerheads...how cool is that...on top of it..shes practicing in spore..
i cant really capture the stars..coz the camera wasnt that good at night...but when ur up there, uve never knew that there were ALOT of stars...plenty of them.
We started walking up at 2.30am and this is photos when ive reached the top part around 5.45am ..still walking tho, or running up, to catch the sunrise
potters, they carry stuff up to laban rata, and they can carry up to 60 kgs per trip.thats why the food up in laban rata is expensive..mee goreng for rm15 ..nasib baik bawak maggi!
